First time reading this material , I have read into steiner education and a man by the name of A.S Neils, the main thing that i would love for our kids is for them to use and explore their imagination. I am always questioning the degree at which i am inhibiting them under the illusion that I'm liberating them. If i only look back at my own response to school then all the answers are there. i see this type of approach as living beyound reason and about letting intuition flourish through self exploration somthing i as a 35 year old father of 3 have only just began to do for myself. i feel as though alot of it comes down to perception and interperation of words for example instead of boundaries one may use guidence instead of consequence or discipline. When one gives direction of this type of parenting, it feels and seems much more gental and human and easier in some aspects to do with kids rather than to them.

i read a quote by A.S Neils
it is the childs right to live and explore his own needs and not for the parent to pass on through there own fear driven anxities what they think or beleive the child needs.

The radical homeschooling facinates me.....I could do it, if it were only me! I would give it a go for sure. It makes such sense to me. Then I look at me in reality and what I actually do and say to my kids....it is so different to what I want to do and say....is that the stuff I have in me from my childhood??? How do I break from that..I am really struggling, and having a partner that thinks it is all a load of crap isn't much help. I am getting this book! The bit about housework and asking if anyone is interested in helping really struck a cord as my daughter often asks in response if anyone wants to play.....and I can get that sitting here late at night...that it is just as important as me trying to get the house sorted.
Wow it amazes me how much we can learn from our kids and from being parents.
Thanks Arun...also read your stuff tonight about dads and their stuff...helps me understand "dadda" a bit better.
This site is great.....just hope I can get more time than the middle of the night to explore it....how do you get the time to do this??????
Hope to meet up with you all at the next NRhomeschoolers.
