If Schooling was reported in the Media

A very funny, albeit very sad article from the satirical online mag, the Onion:
6-Year-Old Stares Down Bottomless Abyss Of Formal Schooling
CARPENTERSVILLE, IL—Local first-grader Connor Bolduc, 6, experienced the first inkling of a coming lifetime of existential dread Monday upon recognizing his cruel destiny to participate in compulsory education for the better part of the next […]

Unschooling Support and where are the mags going?

Why have the unschooling magazines gone?
First Live Free Learn Free went electronic and now seems to be no more. Then more recently Life Learning Magazine got absorbed into its bigger cousing Natural Parenting Magazine.
Meanwhile Connections online magazine seems to be the last one standing but is very infrequent.
So if unschooling is growing what is happening […]

(btw – thanks to Scott Stantis for the cartoon).
The article compares England’s experience with countries such as Sweden, Denmark and Finland where school begins at seven years of […]

From little things…

A friend recently emailed a link to this 2 minute video to us… hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Apparently it was part of an initiative celebrating 60 years of independence in India…

Advance review of The Unschooling Unmanual

Jan Hunt director of the Natural Child Project and her unschooled son Jason are coeditors of the soon to be released The Unschooling Unmanual. This compilation of eleven essays will be available in early Feb, 2008.
I managed to get my mitts on an advance digital copy of the book and have written an indepth review […]

A Time for New Beginnings?

A new year. A period when people are generally open to reflection and new resolutions. Where there is often a break from the busyness of business and time to sit with ourselves and our life. Where there is a moment to choose priorities, direction and who we are being for the coming year.
A time […]
