Hey Arun,
We don't know each other IRL but I follow your writings and your blog. I am an avid couchsurfer and have had good experiences with couchsurfing.com Check it out. There are some homeschooling families and one or two unschoolers but I can't remember if they are in NY

On second thought, the Village Halloween parade won't be anything truly unique if you've been to any big gay pride parades in Oz.

I think a trip to the top of the Empire State Building would be cool. Or - for free - you can take the Staten Island ferry, which would give you a good look at the Statue of Liberty without spending the money to actually go to the island. Staten Island also happens to be home to the world's largest garbage dump, which is so large that the biggest pyramid at Giza can be turned upside down and totally fit inside the dump!

You should definitely get a costume and go trick or treating on the 31st in some random apartment buildings.

OH - if you're around for the Greenwich Village Halloween parade, don't miss it!

How to spend your days in New York? Well, have dinner with us, of course!

We have a small house and a futon, but we are an hour north or so of the city, so that might not work for you, but if it does, don't be afraid to ask!

Otherwise, if you have the time, we'd love to meet. Let us know.

I know time can feel like rubber, but there isn't "a few weeks" From October 27 to October 31. but then again, things are weird in the US...
;)
have fun tho
