Chatting with a friend over dinner when Z our 19 month old son started yelling and pointing at something under the table, obviously asking for help. I could not see what he wanted and enjoying the conversation with our friend I said to Z, “have a go… try and get it yourself.”
I went back to chatting and only barely noticed when Z put something in my hand. After a minute I looked down – Z stood there with a sense of satisfaction as he pointed to the thing he had rescued from the floor and I was now holding…
It was his poo !!!

Ha! That’s hilarious.
he he he hoo hoo
great story
he, he, he…i love this arun!
yes. Made me think I should have looked at doing EC or baby sign or both…
hmmm….don’t know if that would have helped!
We have a similar saying: ‘Be careful what you absent-mindedly say yes to!’
My father in law was in his garden with our daughter Freya (whose speech was very difficult to understand). she asked “Can I poo here?” to which he replied “yes, yes dear.” patting her on the head. He was astounded to see her squat and poo on his patio, not realising what he’d said yes to! This is her favourite anecdote!
I was the other side of the patio windows shouting ‘no!’ in slow motion!
He has been very careful since to ask for a translator, and she is. thankfully, far more intelligible now!
Just back reading the comments … I’ve just written an article about our experiences with EC … posted on my blog.
Oh my…just when you think you can afford a minor distraction like unbroken conversation. TOO funny!!
Oh this entry has me laughing a huge belly laugh!
