I got “tagged” by both Danielle and Schuyler. Am new to these wild and zany blog games… and in case you are too the deal is Im meant to post “8 things about me” then “tag” 8 other blog bods.
Self indulgent it may be… but here goes
// Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.//
- My childhood hero was Eugene Biganovsky who at the time was the State Ombudsman of South Australia (where I was born). I did not know Eugene, but I thought that anyone who introduced themselves as, “Hi, Im Eugene Biganovsky your State Ombudsman”… demanded respect. My second hero was Penfold from Dangermouse.
- I was born with close to no vision in my left eye. The irony was that my Dad was an eye surgeon… which was a cruel twist of fate for him since despite a lot of child hood operations & treatments my eye never improved
- To my knowledge my family were the first Indians to move to Whyalla, the steel works town where I was born. The second Indian family moved there a few years later… right next door to us.
- I honestly believe that ducks and penguins are inherently funny
- I ran for the Western Australian parliament in 1996. I ran along side Yaluritja/ Clarrie Isaacs, a prominent Aboriginal activist on an anti racist platform in the midst of intense Aboriginal & Migrant scapegoating. Anne & I met through social justice & green activist stuff and making some contribution to this world and its people is still at the core for both of us.
- I am a sci fi nerd and read/ watch heaps of it. I have got a plan for a sci book that I want to write and have given myself another 5 years to finish it. While its on the back burner now when our kids get a little older I intend to write several sci fi books which Ive already got a few ideas for
- I ring my Mum to say hello every day
- The first time I stayed at Anne’s Mums house in Brisbane I freaked out after seeing a huge flying cockroach which are uncommon else where in Australia. I still think that flying cochroaches break some unwritten law of the universe. Surely they are powerful enough without wings! Its like allowing sharks to walk on land… its just not right!! Anne’s mum seemed concerned at her daughter’s choice in me… and me explaining the shark/ cockroach argument just seemed to make matters worse.
Thats it! Now Im tagging… Belinda, Tammy, Julie, Casso, Linda and more when they come to me…

Thanks for the tag!
I was tagged a while ago. Here’s my entry. http://justenough.wordpress.com/2007/05/24/ok-cynthia-coerced-a-meme-from-me/
I can’t wait to read your first sci-fi book!
Well I only talk about Harry on the blog so I can do eight things about myself here and then eight things about her over there if you like! :o)
Ok, about me:
1.) I was dropped face-first onto an open bar heater when I was 6mths old. My eyes fell between the bars saving my sight. I had a huge ‘H’ burn across my forehead and two long bar burns down each cheek, but nothing is really noticeable now (although the cheek ones were when I was in primary school).
2.) I have been protesting starting to do photography professionally but in reality, deep down, it would be wonderful. I just lack confidence in my ability and think it might be seen as ’slacking off’ after studying for so long to be a vet.
3.) I am quite superficial in my knowledge. I was brought up very conditionally and therefore only learnt whatever I had to in order to make As. I think I went to study vet science in order to prove to myself I could ‘do’ science after being so arts-focused my whole life.
4.) Never, ever in my life did I think I’d enjoy being a SAHM. But I love it! I just love watching Harry learn new things daily and couldn’t bring myself to let someone else have those memories by putting her in any sort of care. I am selfish about her!
5.) I am HUGELY judgmental. :o( It is definitely my biggest flaw that I try very, very hard to stay on top of. But when I see mothers feeding their 3 day old babies formula (which I did today) I just get so angry and even though she may have had a compeletely reasonable reason for it I cannot shake the idea that I want to slap it out of her hand and shove her breast in the baby’s mouth. As I said, I am working on it.
6.) One of my better qualities is that I am very easy to talk to and know that I have a gift to make other people feel at ease. Don’t know if it was being brought up in a very unorthodox household with many moves, 14 primary schools and 3 high schools but I generally have people gravitate to me in a group. And I am definitely energised by being with groups of people.
7.) I miss my pre-pregnancy breasts. :o(
8.) I don’t talk to my mother at all (in direct contrast to you Arun!). It’s a long story but I am sick of people I tell that to who say “What a shame”, when in fact it is a complete blessing and a breath of fresh air. :o)
Ok, now off to do one for Harry on the blog!
Cheers, Cass
ps - Arun yours were much more interesting. ;o)
Damn! Shuyler tagged me, too. I was hoping she’d missed you so *I* could tag you. Oh, well, see you round anyway.
Very interesting!
I love that you call your mom every day…I hope I am as lucky with my 3 boys
I’m with you on those cockroaches - freaks.
