English to ‘Behaviourish’, learning a new language

Its difficult for me not to regret how I used to respond to my daughters moments of anger when she was three. I was still in my “rules and boundaries” world view (it was before I started listening and learning from my daughter). So when M, my daughter was angry and yelling, the first thing […]

Month of getting published

The first article I wrote when I first launched this site An Unschooling Journey from Control to Connection has now been printed in Kindred magazine, although I have not seen a copy yet. I love that mag, but the readership is very Steiner/ Waldolf based and I’m not sure what the reaction will be […]

Radio feature on Unschooling

Minnesota Public Radio did an interesting story on unschooling here. Here’s a quote from it:

For Roya Sooroshian, getting into college wasn’t a problem. She’s been unschooled since the fourth grade. She passed the high school equivalency exam at 15. Now, at 22, she just graduated from California State University at Long Beach.
Sooroshian says when she […]

Five years in and Im starting to get this parenting thing enough to move categories. I have now graduated from “well intentioned but misguided and clueless” to the “has a vague clue if not always able to live up to it” stage. I reckon by the time Im a grandparent (if it happens) I’ll be […]

Patty Wilpfler’s writing covers broad topics often pitched for a mainstream audience and has […]

happy day for you mummas

way too much to say about my lover, friend, partner… anne. Mumma to our two children. An amazing woman, an inspiration. And as our daughter reminds me… “that’s one crazy mumma!”

Unschoolers at Brisbane Homeschool Conference

Like many Australian homeschoolers we are excited at the first Homeschool Conferences here. We are attending the Brisbane one and cant wait to see John Taylor Gatto et al.
The conferences are very broad reflecting all sorts and styles. However we were disappointed to see no workshop reflection of natural learning let alone broader unschooling.
So […]
