novelty wearing off already

We can see our daughter gaining balance already. We have been partly unregulating for about 2 months and totally unregulating for just over a week. She is still exploring the novelty of it but we can see the changes already.
From having no TV to her having her own portable DVD player and a relatively constant stream of dvds of her choosing… she initially spent a long time watching. She has loved us watching with her and it has led to some amazing conversations and connections.
The last two days we can see how the dvd is losing its power. She has been ignoring it more and more, choosing to play with other things. Often while its on she will also be engaged in something else also. In fact today she asked for us to pull out the ipod with her audio books which was her staple before we started this whole dvd thing. She sat drawing and listening to audio stories for over an hour.
Similarly with food. She makes some decisions that are challenging but more and more she is actually asking for other food that gives her balance. Still quite repetitive diet for my liking but early days yet.
I feel like we have taken power away from the forbidden fruit by offering them to her on tap. Of course on good days we are very pro active in offering alternatives and she is almost always willing to take them.
We can see how this is going to work…
